An evaluation you are not sure how to ask for. An annual review. A triennial reevaluation. Minutes being reduced. A proposed exit from special education. A change in classroom or placement. Goals you are not sure your child is actually meeting. Paperwork you were asked to sign without much explanation.
Whatever brought you here, we help Los Angeles families understand what is being proposed, what the data actually shows, and what rights they have.

These are the exact situations parents describe when they reach out. If you recognize yourself here, you are not overreacting and you are not being difficult.
The district is calling it a reevaluation, but everything they are saying points toward ending the IEP. You want to know whether the data actually supports that.
Services are being reduced and the reason given is a schedule change, staffing, or "she's doing great." You are not sure whether that is allowed.
A different classroom, a different program, or a different school is being suggested, and it is moving faster than you are comfortable with.
You were handed paperwork and told to sign it. Nobody explained what happens if you do not, or what you are agreeing to.
The school says the speech goals are met. You are still hearing the difficulties at home and nobody is asking you about it.
Every service is available in English or Spanish, including meeting attendance and the written summary. Available across Los Angeles County and by Zoom statewide.
How to ask your child’s school to evaluate for special education, and what happens after you do.
We read your child's current and previous IEP, the school's assessment reports, and progress on goals, then send you a written list of questions to ask and things to request at the meeting, in the order that matters most.
What the school must do before it can reduce services, change your child's classroom, or exit your child from special education. Reevaluation timelines, prior written notice, consent, and what to do if you disagree with the IEP.
Someone with you at the meeting, by Zoom. We ask the questions that are hard to ask in the moment, and we go over what happened with you afterward.
If you disagree with the school's speech and language assessment, you have the right to an independent evaluation. Ours are bilingual, written to district standards, and the school is required to consider the results.
A small team with experience on both sides of the IEP table.

The special education and procedural side. Your case is led by an Education Specialist and Special Education Administrator, M.S., M.Ed., who holds both a California Education Specialist credential and a California Administrative Services credential, with years of experience working inside California school districts. This is the person who reads the district’s paperwork the way the district wrote it: evaluation and reevaluation timelines, your procedural rights, consent, prior written notice, and proposed changes to services or placement.
The speech and language side. An ASHA-certified, California-licensed bilingual CCC-SLP reviews the speech and language portions of the IEP: assessment data, eligibility, goals, and whether the proposed service minutes match what the reports actually show.
When a disagreement is about speech and language, districts rely on their own assessment data. A general advocate can question that data. A licensed speech-language pathologist can produce an independent evaluation the district is legally required to consider. We do both, which means the argument does not stop at your word against theirs.
If we review the records and believe the district's proposal is appropriate, we will tell you. You are paying for an honest read, not a predetermined answer.
Every service is optional. You pay only after a service is completed, and only for what you actually use. Nothing is due up front, and there is no package or retainer.
Talk through your concerns, what the school has told you, and what you want out of the meeting. Many parents find this is all they need.
Review of the current and previous IEP, assessment reports, progress on goals, and district notices, plus a written summary of questions to bring.
We attend by Zoom. Up to 45 minutes is $100, up to 1.5 hours is $200, up to 2 hours is $300. Two hours is the maximum for any one meeting.
After the meeting, talk through what happened, what was offered, and what your next steps are.

No ofrecemos representación legal. Si su caso requiere un abogado, se lo diremos con honestidad.
Questions about how this works. Anything specific to your child's situation is what the first call is for.
An advocate helps you understand the process, prepare for meetings, and read the data. An attorney represents you in legal proceedings such as due process. Most IEP disagreements are resolved without one. If yours needs an attorney, we will tell you honestly.
No. Consultations and IEP meeting attendance happen by phone and Zoom, so we work with families throughout California. In-person evaluations are limited to the greater Los Angeles area.
Reach out as early as you can. A records review takes time to do well, and the most useful preparation happens before the meeting rather than after. If your meeting is within two weeks, say so when you contact us.
Sí. Todos nuestros servicios están disponibles en español, incluyendo la consulta inicial, la revisión de documentos, el resumen escrito, y la asistencia a la reunión del IEP.
Send us a short summary of what the district has said and what is worrying you. We will reply and tell you honestly whether this is something we can help with. If it is a fit, we start with a 45-minute consultation.
